Dense fog over parts of North India continues to affect rail traffic

Dense fog over parts of North India continued to affect rail traffic for the second day today and Railways cancelled three trains due to inordinate delays and rescheduled departure timings of over 30 trains from Delhi .

According to Northern Railway, more than 90 trains bound for Delhi reported several hours behind schedule while the Rajdhani trains from Howrah , Sealdah, Patna and Bhubaneswar arrived here seven to 12 hours behind schedule.

Poor visibility also led to bunching of trains on busy Delhi-Mughalsarai route, said a Northern Railway spokesperson.

The Delhi-Rewari and Delhi-Panipat special trains were cancelled for the day along with Rohtak-New Delhi Express.

The spokesperson said New Delhi-Lucknow Shatabdi Express will remain cancelled tomorrow along with New Delhi-Islampur Magadh express.

Most of Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains left two to six hours behind schedule.

Railways had earlier announced cancellation of over a dozen trains to ensure smooth flow of rail traffic during poor visibility.
