Dense fog affects rail & air operations in North India.

Cold wave continues to sweep North India. Biting cold wave condition continued to sweep across the national capital with the day temperature plummeting to below normal. According to the MeT department, the maximum temperature was recorded 16.2 degree celsius, 5 notches below normal while the minimum settled at 7 degree celsius, one degree below normal.

In Uttar Pradesh, the cold wave has claimed 10 more lives during the past 24 hours in the eastern districts. With this the death toll in current spell has risen above 25.

Dense fog affected air and rail traffic in Rajasthan, with the maximum impact being felt in Jaipur. Mount Abu and Churu were the coldest areas recording a minimum temperature of 3.8 and 5.1 degree Celsius respectively.

Punjab is also in the grip of a severe cold wave.Most trains were delayed. Flights to and from Chandigarh were affected for the third day today.

Narnaul town in Haryana recorded a low of three degrees on Tuesday morning.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of six degrees. Met officials said the weather would largely be dry and cold in the next 48 hours, with dense fog likely in many parts.

In Himachal, the minimum temperature at high altitude areas is hovering between -1 to -10 degrees Celsius.

Bihar has also been hit by a cold wave and thick fog, disrupting rail and air services.
