Dengue spreads in 20 districts of Odisha

In Odisha, dengue has spread to 20 of the 30 districts. According to official sources, 575 positive dengue cases have so far been reported in the state this year. More than half the people who tested positive for dengue, have been from the coastal districts like Balasore and Ganjam. There has been 4 deaths due to dengue in the state over last two months.The latest death which occurred on Sunday, was reported from Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, about 25 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar. Most of the affected people have been under treatment at their homes, while the number of people currently under treatment in different hospitals in the state for the infection will be around 25.The state government has trained a large number of volunteers to carry out an awareness campaign in the affected areas to contain the spread of infection.
