Dengue fever outbreaks in Manipur

In Manipur, out of the 28 blood samples sent to the National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi for conducting test for Dengue fever, eight samples have been found positive. The blood samples were collected from fever patients of Churachandpur District of the state after reported outbreak of the disease in the District in the last week of October last.State Malaria Officer Dr . A Ibochauba Singh told mediapersons at Imphal Saturday afternoon that another 91 blood samples are also under investigation at the accredited laboratory of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences at Imphal.He also said that three patients have been reportedly died due to the disease. Dr. Ibochauba however asserted, whether they have been died due to the disease could not be confirmed.Meanwhile, State Malaria Office has started to take up preventive measures in Churachandpur District to contain further outbreak of the disease.Fogging in the vulnerable villages and sanitation activities at water logging areas are underway in the District.
