Dengue cases continue to rise in Bangladesh, with 2,348 more infections reported on Wednesday.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' This takes the total number of people infected with dengue to over 32,000 since January. More than half of the new cases were reported from Dhaka and the rest from other parts of the country.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' The official death toll due to dengue has now gone up to 23. Unofficial estimates, however, suggest that the death toll is much higher.<br />'' <br />'' The Government is bracing up to contain the spread of dengue during the forthcoming holidays coinciding with Eid-Ul-Azha festival on 12th August and the weekend.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' Dengue spread could become severe as a large number of people travel to their native places from Dhaka during the long holidays starting from tomorrow.<br />'' <br />'' The Directorate General of Health Services has issued an instruction for the home-bound people during the holidays to control the spread of the disease.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' The Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation informed yesterday that new insecticides imported from abroad will be sprayed from today.<br />'' <br />'' The government yesterday announced that it has allocated 51.5 crore Taka to the city corporations and municipalities for mosquito control in the country.
