Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu said, the difficulties being faced by the people in the wake of demonetization of high-value currency notes would only be temporary but the benefits of the decision would be long lasting.<br/><br/>Addressing a youth convention 'Transforming India: Reform, Perform and Transform' in Nellore of Andhra Pradesh yesterday he thanked the Prime Minister's decision adding that black money would go stale. He appealed to the younger generation to come forward and join the movement of making of developed India for a stable, strong, and capable country. <br/><br/>Mr. Naidu said, black money is at the bottom of various ills confronting the nation like 'Parallel economy', smuggling, and terrorism from across the border and that is why it is necessary to root out black money in the country. Mr. Naidu appealed to the people that there is no need to panic as long as the money that was earned is genuine and duly accounted for in the taxable income. He urged the media to highlight more on the positive aspects of the decision taken by the Centre at a time like this.<br/><br/>He said there was no truth in the rumours that farmers and rural people were being harassed on the basis of the new regulations as there would be no tax or penalty on agricultural income. Commenting on the rumours in some parts of the country, the Union Minister asserted that there was no way scarcity of salt could arise considering the fact that 220 lakh tonnes was being produced every year and only 60 lakh tonnes of it was being consumed in the country.
