Demonetisation led to detection of black money, increased tax collection & widening of tax base, says Mos for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary

<span style="color: #222222;">Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary has said that Demonetisation had led to detection of black money, increased tax collection and widening of tax base. He said this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha yesterday.<br />''<br />''Mr. Chaudhary said, during the period November 2016 to March 2017, the Income-tax Department conducted search and seizure actions in nine hundred groups leading to seizure of nine hundred crore rupees. This includes cash of six hundred 36 crore rupees and admission of undisclosed income of about seven thousand nine hundred 61 crore rupees. He added that the growth rate of 18 percent for Financial Year 2017-18 in net direct tax collections over 2016-17, which was highest in the preceding seven financial years. This indicated the positive impact of demonetisation on the level of tax compliance in the country. The Minister further said that demonetisation has helped the Government to unearth the unaccounted money.</span><br />
