Union Labour Minister Dattatreya today said the demonetisation decision taken by the central government has full public support. At a review meeting with the RBI officials and Ministers from Telangana and senior officials from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, he asked the bank officials to ease the inconvenience that the common people are facing because of unavailability of currency in rural areas. <br/><br/>Later, he informed in a press conference in Hyderabad that the RBI has assured providing currency of about 1500 crore rupees in smaller denominations to Telangana state in 2 or 3 days. He further said 3.28 lakh new bank accounts have been opened after demonetization in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana which included 1.17 lakh accounts opened in Telangana. <br/><br/>He also appreciated the efforts of Telangana to create awareness about digital and about financial literacy mainly in rural areas. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Telangana Finance minister E Rajender said the RBI has been asked to release 5000 crore rupees in smaller denomination out of the total 20 thousand crore currency due to Telangana. He also suggested cancellation of the service charges over the digital transactions and take steps to prevent fraudulent practices in distributing currency to black money holders. <br/><br/>Describing the demonetization decision as progressive one, he said the state government has been spreading digital financial literacy in a huge way.
