Delhi to deploy more mobile vans for DV protection officers

The Delhi government has said that protection officers for domestic violence will be provided three mobile vans and cellphones for prompt response to complaints. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Monday, Delhi Minister for Women and Child Development Kiran Walia said that her Ministry has decided to deploy three more mobile vans so that the protection officers can reach the spot fast whenever they receive any complaint and said one such van has already been operating.The Minister was speaking on the sidelines of an event marking the International Women's Day. Asked about steps being taken for ensuring safety of women, the Minister said the government is focusing on the infrastructure aspect. It is ensuring provision of lights in bus-stops, parks and other public places. She said awareness should be created among men to combat crimes against women.
