Delhi to come under President's Rule

Delhi will come under President's rule after issuance of notification with the Assembly remaining under suspended animation. The Union Cabinet accepted the recommendation of Lt Governor Najeeb Jung last evening in this regard. In a report to the Centre, the Lieutnant Governor did not favour dissolution of the 70-member Delhi Assembly as recommended by the council of ministers headed by Arvind Kejriwal when it decided to quit on Friday. The LG's move keeps the option open for any political party or a combination of parties to try and form a government in the future.

Arvind Kejriwal has criticised the Lt Governor for not recommending dissolution of the House saying that Jung was bound by the decision taken by the Cabinet of a majority government.

Aam Aadmi Party will launch its anti graft national campaign against Congress and BJP at a rally in Haryana on Sunday next week. Talking to reporters after Party's Political Affairs Committee meeting in New Delhi, party spokesperson Yogendra Yadav said that AAP will fight the general elections under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal.

The Congress accused the AAP of being non-serious to bring the Jan Lok Pal Bill. Pradesh Congress Committee President Arvinder Singh Lovely said that AAP wanted only to keep the bill alive as a political agenda. He said his party was not against the Bill.

BJP leader, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that his party is ready to face elections any time. Party leader Arun Jaitley has termed the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi as worst ever. Criticising AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for resigning as the Delhi Chief Minister, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said in Mumbai that it is betrayal of the people.

The CPI(M) said that the Aam Aadmi Party's commitment to pass the Jan Lokpal bill would have been an important measure to fight corruption in public life. However, the manner in which it was tabled in the Delhi Assembly was politically erroneous and inexpedient.
