Delhites are gearing up to celebrate the holy festival of lights, Deepawali on Wednesday. The festival symbolises the removal of darkness and gloom and bringing peace, happiness and prosperity in the life of people. People are busy decorating their homes and shops tastefully.On Tuesday, people are celebrating Chhoti Diwali through out the city. Various markets in the city were jam-packed due to the heavy rush of people for buying various items including idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.Traditional Diyas and colourful Candles available in various designs are also the centre of attraction in markets besides colourful electric lights.Delhi Police has tightened security arrangements across the city to avoid any untoward incident. Extra police personnel have been deployed at various places including major markets, bus stops, Metro stations and public places.
