In the National Capital Delhi ,the morning temperature plummeted to the season's lowest of 2.7 degree Celsius. Today's minimum is four degree Celsius below normal and down from yesterday's 4.4 degrees Celsius. Fog in the early morning hours slowed down traffic. On Wednesday, the city witnessed the coldest day in 44 years when maximum plummeted to 9.8 degrees. The weatherman has predicted similar weather conditions for tomorrow with temperature between four and 15 degrees.
Meanwhile, operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the National Capital were affected today after fog disrupted the schedule of around 30 flights. Airport sources said, around 16 flights were delayed while one was cancelled and three international flight were diverted to other airports this morning, either due to operational reason or due to bad weather. Visibility started to deteriorate when fog began to envelop the airport around midnight and it forced the airport authorities to implement low visibility procedures.
Delhi government in the meantime ordered closure of all recognized aided and unaided schools in the city till 12th of this month due to low temperature and extreme cold weather conditions. The order will also apply to the schools of Municipal Corporations of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council and Delhi Cantonment Board.
