Delhi Police takes appropriate security measure to thwart any terror threats in capital

Canada has joined US, UK and Australia in warning their citizens who may be travelling to India about a threat of an imminent terrorist attack in the capital New Delhi. The travel advisory was the third sent out in recent days and warns travellers to avoid New Delhi's popular Chandni Chowk area in Old Delhi.<br/>The US, UK and Australia have also warned of imminent terror threat in New Delhi, particularly in market places like Connaught Place, Greater Kailash and Chandni Chowk.<br/>In response to the warnings of imminent terror threat, the Delhi police has taken appropriate security measures to ensure security in the Capital. Spokesperson of Delhi Police, Rajan Bhagat said that the police is aware of the advisory and has appealed to the public to be vigilant. He asked the public to inform the nearest police station in case they notice any suspicious object, person or vehicle.<br/>Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police has detained a youth alleged to be the brain behind spreading panic by making calls claiming that blasts will be carried out in crowded markets of Delhi prompting several foreign countries to issue travel warnings. PTI quoting highly-placed sources in the Jammu and Kashmir Home Department reports, the man was detained in the wee hours after a massive manhunt was launched to nab him. Last week, the security agencies had monitored his activities including his conversation with one "Furqan", suspected to be a Lashker-e-Taiba operative across the border. The youth claimed that a group had entered India through Bangladesh and Nepal to carry out blasts in the national capital.
