The Delhi Police today claimed to have averted a major terror incident during the festive season in the National Capital with the arrest of 3 suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists in Pul Prahladpur area of the city. Addressing a news conference in New Delhi this afternoon, Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar claimed that by nabbing them, Pune blast case of August this year have also been cracked. He said the trio were also planning to conduct terror strikes at Bodh Gaya Hindu temple in Bihar.
Mr Kumar said the Delhi Police is coordinating with Bihar Police and Maharashtra anti-terrorist squad in the case and has asked Bihar Police to step up vigil and tighten security around the temple. The Police Commissioner Kumar informed that the trio were close to fugitive Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal and Lashkar e Toiba, LeT operative Fayaaz Quazi.
Mr Kumar said that Delhi Police's anti-terror unit Special Cell has recovered explosives and some other material to be used to make bombs
The Police Commissioner said that interrogation of 26/11 terror attacks key plotter Abu Jundal led to arrest of the trio. He said that all apprehended persons belong to Maharashtra.
