Delhi police arrest 3 more suspected bookies in connection with IPL spot-fixing scandal

Three more suspected bookies linked with disgraced cricketer Ajit Chandila were arrested yesterday in connection with the IPL spot-fixing scandal. Delhi Police claim the trio were in touch with him for allegedly manipulating matches. Bhupender Nagar was apprehended from Greater Noida last evening while Sayed Durez Ahmed and Sunil Saxena were apprehended from Hyderabad.

They were produced before a duty magistrate who sent them to three-day police custody. With these arrests, Delhi Police have so far arrested 22 people, including three cricketers S Sreesanth, Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.

Continuing with their probe into spot-fixing, Mumbai and Goa police yesterday arrested eight bookies. Mumbai police claim the two arrested bookies were allegedly in contact with their counterparts in Pakistan for accepting bets.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, Sanjay Kumar Bafna against whom a look-out notice was issued in the IPL betting case was arrested by the city police yesterday.
