Delhi on high alert, police heightened vigil ahead of today's sentencing of Ram Rahim Singh in rape case

Delhi has been put on high alert and the police have heightened vigil Ahead of today's sentencing of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a rape case. Delhi Police's spokesperso Madhur Verma said additional forces have been deployed in sensitive areas and senior officers are keeping a tight vigil. <br/><br/>He said extra measures like deployment of Special Weapons And Tactics, SWAT, teams and reserve forces were taken. Mr Verma said flag marches were conducted in some areas, including northeast Delhi.<br/> <br/>Delhi Police dismissed as rumours reports of schools in the national capital being shut today. Mr Verma said schools will remain open today and there are no instructions from Delhi Police to close them. <br/><br/>Social media was abuzz with rumours that the police has instructed schools to remain closed as it anticipates violence.
