In yet another record, Delhi Metro registered its highest ridership yesterday when it carried for the first time over 20 lakh people, a target set by its chief E Sreedharan by the end of this year. DMRC spokesman Anuj Dayal said that this is the first time that DMRC carried over 20.66 lakh passengers on a single day. He said that Delhi Metro has registered 14 lakh in May, 15 lakh in June and crossed 16 lakh in the month of July. The Delhi Metro network which was just 87 kms in January 2010 added another 100 kms in a period of over next one year and has been considered as one of the fastest Metro expansion in the world. DMRC today spans over a network of 187 Kms and 143 Metro stations including the Airport Line.
