Delhi Metro On Thursday completed seven years of its operations. The first section of the Delhi Metro, an 8.5 kilometer-long stretch between Shahdara and Tis Hazari, was inaugurated on 24th of December 2002 and commercial operations began on Christmas Day. Major achievements of the Metro also include crossing the Delhi border and stepping into Uttar Pradesh's Noida, bringing a paradigm shift in traveling habits of millions of people of the National Capital region. According to release from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, in the last seven years, the Metro network has grown over 10 times and now covers almost 90 kms and another nearly 6 kilometer<br/>Yamuna Bank to Anand Vihar ISBT is poised to be added to the network soon. The Metro trains have covered more than four crore kilometers since 2002 and today run about 35,000 kms every single day on the three operational lines from Dilshad Garden to Rithala, Jahangirpuri to Central Secretariat and Dwarka to Noida. Delhi Metro also added 13 trains to its stable in the last year, with the number increasing from 70 to 83.The sections that are scheduled to be opened next year include Inderlok to Mundka, Central Secretariat to HUDA City Centre at Gurgaon, Central Secretariat -to Badarpur and the Airport Express Line.<br/>

Delhi Metro completes 7 years of its operations
