Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that nine diagnostic and pathological centres in Delhi, which were allegedly involved in giving commission to some doctors, have been de-paneled from all government supports. The action has been taken on the recommendation of the Medical Council of India till the time the Council completes its investigation. The centres were found involved in this unethical practice during a sting operation by a television channel on July 21.
The Health Minister had given a suo motu statement regarding this in the House on July 22.
While replying in Lok Sabha today, Dr Vardhan said that besides the investigation being conducted by the Medical Council of India, he has directed the Secretary, Health, also to conduct an elaborate inquiry into the issue. The Health Minister said that another three-member Committee headed by Dr. Athani, has also been formed by the department.
This Committee will submit an independent report in the coming six weeks by keeping all the concerned components under consideration.
