Delhi is all set to hold elections to its newly constituted three municipal corporations tomorrow. Over 2400 candidates are in the fray for 272 seats. Both South and North Delhi Municipal Corporations have 104 wards each while East Delhi has 64 wards. These local bodies have been carved out from the earlier Municipal Corporation of Delhi, MCD. Votings for these seats will take place from 8 AM in the morning to 5.30 PM in the evening.AIR correspondent reports, elaborate arrangements have been made by the Delhi State Election Commission to ensure free and fair polls. About 70,000 officials have been deployed for conducting the polls while over 30,000 police personnel will be on duty for security arrangements. A total of 11,500 polling stations have been set up across the city. According to the Commission, 55 polling stations have been identified as hyper-sensitive while 275 have been declared as sensitive. Over 1 crore eligible voters will be able to exercise their franchise during the elections. The municipal polls is seen as crucial for both the Congress and opposition BJP as the Assembly polls in Delhi are just 18 months away.
