Delhi Lt. governor orders judicial inquiry into incident involving Law Minister Somnath Bharati

Delhi Government has demanded that the Delhi Police should be brought under its control. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alongwith his three cabinet colleagues today met Home Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde in this regard. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said that his government has urged Mr Shinde that Delhi Police be allowed to work under the city Government. He said, if it is not feasible the police should be put under the control of the Delhi Government for the rest of the city barring New Delhi Municipal Council's area which is the Headquarters of the Central Government. Mr Sisodia also said that during the meeting, they have also demanded suspension of four Delhi police officials who allegedly refused to carry out the orders of two Delhi Ministers including Law minister Somnath Bharati recently.

Earlier in the day, Mr Kejriwal also had a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on the issue of suspension of police officials.
Mr Jung has ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter.
