Delhi Lt. governor orders judicial inquiry into incident involving Law Minister Somnath Bharati

Delhi Government has demanded that the Delhi Police should be brought under its control. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alongwith his three cabinet colleagues today met Home Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde in this regard. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said that his government has urged Mr Shinde that Delhi Police be allowed to work under the city Government. He said, if it is not feasible the police should be put under the control of the Delhi Government for the rest of the city barring New Delhi Municipal Council's area which is the Headquarters of the Central Government.

Mr Sisodia also said that during the meeting, they have also demanded suspension of four Delhi police officials who allegedly refused to carry out the orders of two Delhi Ministers including Law minister Somnath Bharati in connections with the three cases – the gangrape of the Danish woman, alleged drug rackets in Malviya Nagar and the death of a woman in a dowry-related case.

Later talking to reporters, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S Bassi who also met Mr Shinde, said that t
he Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has ordered an inquiry into the matter of suspension of officials and he will be able to take action only after the report comes. Earlier in the day, Mr Kejriwal also had a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in this regard.
