Delhi like security system soon at J&K Rly stations

Railway stations of Jammu and Kashmir, which are considered to be sensitive areas across the Country, will soon have integrated security set up on the pattern of Delhi Railway Station. Nearly 17 railway stations across Jammu and Kashmir including 15 in the Valley, one in Udhampur and one in Jammu will be developed on the pattern of Delhi Railway Station with raised security infrastructure. This was stated by S. K Budhalakoti, General Manager, Northern Railways while talking to media persons in Jammu today. He said that security scenario, basic facilities and safety of passengers are priority of the Northern Railways. Budhalakoti said these railway stations will have integrated security set up, which would include proper boundary wall, baggage scanners, sniffer dogs, X-ray machines, stickers and other security gadgets.The General Manager was in the town on an annual inspection from Udhampur to Chakki Bank along with a team of civil engineers and senior Railway police officials. He said that Railways suffered a loss of Rs 8.61 crore due to unrest in Kashmir valley. He, however, denied the migration of railway officials from the Valley. The General Manager said the work of Qazikund-Budgam railway track is in full swing and would soon be completed in a month, adding that train to Katra will also reach by March 2012 as the engineers are working efficiently to meet any shortcomings, if any.
