Delhi Industrial Development Operation & Maintenance Bill 2010 passed

The Delhi Assembly on Tuesday passed the Delhi Industrial Development, Operation and Maintenance Bill 2010 following strong protests and walk-out by the Opposition BJP. The Bill, aims at developing and maintaining industrial areas and estates of the capital which were in a deplorable state. It empowers the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) to secure orderly establishment of industrial areas and estates and to assist in their operation and maintenance. DSIIDC will also be empowered to levy service charges to cover its expenses on maintenance of roads, drainage, water supply and street lighting and would be made accountable for orderly maintenance of all the industrial infrastructure of Delhi.
