Delhi HC upholds order of single judge bench terming Air India pilots strike as illegal

Delhi High Court has rejected the plea of agitating Air India pilots against an order of a single-judge bench terming their strike as illegal.
The court came down heavily on the agitating pilots and said that the pilots cannot willfully and frangently disobey its orders.

The Court maintained no litigant can avail of any discretionary remedy from the court in such a situation.
A two bench of the court said the striking pilots can be tried for offence of content of court by the single Judge Bench.

The pilots are agitating over the rescheduling of Boeing 787 dreamliner training and matters relating to their career progression.

On the otherhand, the Indian Pilots guild has said that it is taking legal opinion on the way ahead.

Earlier in the day the Civil Aviation Minister Mr Ajit Singh said that the government has decided to convene a meeting of all the recognized trade unions of Air India next week to sort out the pending issues related to the employees.

He said that the Ministry has approved a turnaround plan of 30 thousand crore rupees which will be discussed during the meeting. Mr Singh said that the issues related to the promotion of the employees will also be discussed.
