The Delhi High Court today sought the reply of sacked CWG Organising Committee Chairman, Suresh Kalmadi, to a plea for stopping him from going to London for the 2012 Olympics. The Court also asked kalmadi not to advance his slated July 26 departure. The plea made by advocate Rahul Mehra, has sought the court's direction to restrain Kalmadi from going to London on the ground that he is facing trial in a corruption case and cannot be allowed to represent the country in an international event. Issuing notice to Kalmadi, a division bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw sought Kalmadi's reply to Mehra's plea within three days.
Appearing for Kalmadi, senior counsel Rajiv Nayyar told the bench that Kalmadi is leaving for London Olympics in his individual capacity and not as IOA President. The next hearing will be held on the 24th of this month .
