Delhi Government has decided to undertake developmental works in most of the unauthorized colonies in the city. The decision to this effect was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mrs. Dikshit said that the government has also considered issue of providing basic civic amenities like water and sanitation in those colonies which came up on government land. The move will benefit over 500 unauthorised colonies. Asked about regularisation of more unauthorised colonies in Delhi, she said, a list of 100 colonies has already been sent to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for preparing layout plans. In the meeting, the decision was also taken to extend the cut- off date from 1st of January, 2002 to 31st March 2007 for determining eligibility of Slum J.J dwellers for relocation, rehabilitation and allotment of flats.
