Delhi Government will send a detailed reply to the Centre within a couple of days on Shunglu Commitee report related to Commonwealth Games. Briefing the media Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit said, the cabinet is siezed of the matter and the reply will be sent to the Home Ministery in the next two-three days. TheShunglu report, among other things, indicted the Delhi government on account of delays, badly prepared and ill conceived estimates for approval and sanction of projects, restricted and flawed tendering system and preparation of unrealistically high estimates which benefited a few contractors during the Commonwealth Games. The report also mentions how the state government used the CWG as an opportunity to launch projects not connected to its declared objectives, in particular streetscaping and streetlighting projects. After the home ministry sought a reply from the Delhi Government , a three-member committee of senior bureaucrats was constituted by Mrs Dixit to look into every aspect of the report and respond to the findings chapter-wise.
