Delhi government has decided to regularize 917 unauthorized colonies in the national capital. A decision in this regard was taken by Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit after consultation with Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath. Announcing this in New Delhi today, Ms. Dikshit said that the move will benefit around 40 lakh residents of unauthorized colonies in the city. She said that Delhi government will now act swiftly in providing all civic amenities as already provided in the developed colonies across Delhi.Ms. Dikshit said the Urban Development Ministry has also assured that the cases of regularization of unauthorized colonies on forest land will be taken care on priority basis. She said it has been conveyed to the City Government that these colonies will also be regularized soon by effecting modification in the law, wherever required. The Chief Minister said her government is committed for the welfare to the common people and not a single colony will be demolished.
