With a view to make the national capital kerosene free, Delhi Government has decided to provide LPG connection to the families using kerosene oil for cooking purpose. The decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Shiela Dikshit.Briefing reporters after the meeting, Mrs. Dikshit said that as per the announcement in her Budget Speech, the government will provide one time relief to the kerosene oil user families of the BPL, Antyodaya Anna Yojna and the Jhuggi Relocation Colonies for purchasing LPG connection in the city. She said , around 3.57 lakh such families are using kerosene oil and all such families are presently getting 12.5 litres per month. Mrs. Dikshit said that the programme of providing LPG connection will be formally launched on 15th of August. She said, around 86 crore rupees will be spent on this scheme.
