Delhi govt to officials: Work out strategies to control spread of dengue

Delhi government has directed the officials to work out short and long term legislative, enforcement and administrative strategies to effectively control spread of dengue in the national capital. Delhi Health Minister, Dr. A.K. Walia today reviewed the situation of Dengue at a meeting with senior health officials of Delhi government, civic bodies and national mosquito control bodies in New Delhi. During the meeting, it emerged that the primary sources of growing incidence of dengue in the city are the over head water tanks and construction activities. Dr. Walia asked the health officials to work with local bodies and ensure that manufacturers of overhead tanks are suitably advised and deterrent action be taken against those who don’t fall in the line of government instructions. The Health Minister also directed municipal health officials to double the number of fogging machines from two per Ward to four per Ward. Our correspondent reports that 36 fresh cases of Dengue have been reported today in the national capital.
