The Arvind Kejriwal government has declared that it will table the Jan Lokpal Bill in the Delhi assembly today ignoring Union Law Ministry's view that the Centre's prior approval is required.
A senior official said, there is no rethinking in Aam Aadmi Party government's position and it will go ahead with tabling of the Jan Lokpal Bill. The hardening of the AAP government's stand came even as Congress and BJP held the move unconstitutional.
The special session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly will begin today. The session will have four sittings and will conclude on 16th of this month. Delhi government has decided to convene the last day of the session at Indira Gandhi Stadium to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill.
On the other hand, Delhi Congress has said that the House can only decide to convene the sittings of Assembly for transaction of business on Saturday or Sunday and any public holiday. Briefing reporters, Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely said that his party will support those Bills which will be under constitutional norms.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and BJP leader Harsh Vardhan also opposed the government's decision to call a session at the Stadium and said that public money will be spent on it. He also said that his party will support those Bills which will be constitutional.
