Delhi govt. to install GPS in all DTC buses

In a view to enhance transport facilities in the national capital, Delhi government will install global positioning systems (GPS) in all DTC buses while over 1,700 new bus shelters will be set up in the city in another two months.Replying to a question in the Delhi Assembly, Transport Minister Arvinder Singh said the government had identified 2,800 sites for new bus shelters, of which 1,703 are being set up in the first phase and the rest will come up in the next phase. He said that work on installing over 1,000 such shelters has already been completed.Replying to another question Mr. Lovely said that the work of installing GPS in buses will be completed by the end of this month. This will help the Delhi Transport Corporation streamline its functioning, including gathering data on the need to deploy buses on particular routes depending upon the number of passengers.
