Delhi Government has decided to increase the reservation quota for OBCs in educational institutes run by it to 21 per cent from the current 15 per cent. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Mrs Sheila Dikshit.To ensure that increase in reservation for OBCs does not affect general category students, the government has decided to enhance the number of seats in each discipline by 12 per cent. Mrs. Dikshit said the increase in reservation for OBC students will not at all affect students belonging to other communities. Delhi government also decided to allow existing higher educational institutions situated in Lal-dora, extended Lal-dora and other non-conforming areas to continue for the academic year 2011-12.
