Delhi government has decided to impose a blanket ban on the manufacture, storage and use of plastic bags in the national capital. The decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting presided over by Delhi Chief Minister Mrs Shiela Dikshit.Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mrs Dikshit said that all the concerned authorities like MCD, NDMC and Environment Department have been directed to effectively implement the decision.Earlier, following a court order, the city government had banned use of plastic bags in the city but the ban is not effective as the manufacturing units were functioning.
