Delhi govt to chalk out plan to extend Mono Rail services

The Delhi government has decided to chalk out a plan to extend Mono Rail services in more localities in Trans Yamuna area to provide better public transport.Chief Minister Mrs. Sheila Dikshit said this on Friday while inaugurating a community centre at Ghonda. She said, there are many localities in trans-Yamuna area where it is difficult to extend Delhi Metro services and even to ply low floor buses. She said the government has already given its in-principal approval for commissioning of a Mono Rail route connecting Shastri Park to Trilok Puri. Ms Dikshit said the new small taxis being developed by certain manufacturers will be first introduced in trans-Yamuna area to facilitate availability of public transport in localities situated around narrow lanes and bazaars as it is not possible and feasible to extend Delhi Metro services at every doorstep.
