Delhi govt. tax collection surges by 23 pc in 2010-11

The Delhi Government has collected a record tax revenue worth of 16,478 crore rupees in the year 2010-11 registering a growth of 23 per cent over 2009-10. The collection has gone up from 13,448 crore in 2009-10 to 16,478 crore rupees in 2010-11. Giving details of tax collection , Delhi Chief Ministerf Mrs Shiela Dikshit,She said Value Added Tax (VAT) has fetched a maximum of 12,068 in the year 2010-11 against a collection of 10,126 crore rupees in the preceding fiscal, posting a growth of 19.18 per cent. The collection through tax on vehicles has surged by 52.93 per cent compared to collection in 2009-10. The government collected 707 crore rupees in 2010-11 against 462 crore rupees in 2009-10.
