Delhi govt offices to have hoardings on Citizen’s Services Act

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit directed all departments to put up hoardings outside their offices explaining provisions of the Delhi Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services Act.As per this act, different departments were brought under purview of a new law that makes babus liable to pay penalties for delay in delivering public services.According to official sources, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit issued the directives as, in most of the cases, citizens have not come forward to claim financial penalty from officials even if there has been delay in delivering services to them within government stipulated time-frame.The Chief Minister reviewed implementation of the Delhi Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services Act, which had come into effect on September 15.As per provision of the legislation, officials are liable to pay financial penalty to applicants if they fail to deliver services like issuance of ration card, driving license and electricity connection within stipulated time-frame.Initially, the government had brought 32 services under the ambit of legislation and added 12 more last month taking the total number of services to 44.The citizens can file application online to get these services which are being provided under eSLA (electronic Service Level Agreement).
