Anti-Corruption Branch, ACB, of the Delhi government has registered an FIR in the Commonwealth games street-lighting scam. Sources said, the FIR invokes IPC provisions relating to cheating and criminal conspiracy and corruption under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
However, the FIR did not name former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who was indicted by the High Level Committee headed by former CAG V K Shunglu. Earlier, the city government had asked ACB to probe a number of cases of corruption relating to alleged irregularities in Commonwealth Games projects. The scam related to purchase of street lights causing loss of 31 crore rupees to public exchequer.
Speaking on alleged irregularities in the games, Delhi Congress leader Mukesh Sharma said that investigation should have been conducted before registering an FIR in the case.
On the other hand , Delhi BJP leader Dr Harsh Vardhan said that all cases related the games should be probed.
