Delhi government has increased rehabilitation grant to prisoners by 125 per cent for prisoners who have spent more than 10 years in Tihar Jail. This is to help them start life afresh after release from jail.Talking to AIR correspondent Tihar Jail spokesperson Sunil Gupta said those prisoners who have spent between six months to five years in prison will get a grant of 15,000 rupees. A grant of 20,000 rupees will be given to those who have been imprisoned for a time period between five to ten years. Gupta said that 25,000 rupees will be given to prisoners who have spent more then ten years in the prison. Earlier all prisoners were given 10,000 rupees.
