Delhi Govt hikes old-age pension to Rs 1500

Delhi Government has increased the monthly old-age pension from 1000 rupees to 1,500 for senior citizens who have attained the age 70 years and above in the city. This will come into effect from 1st of this month. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Talking to reporters, Mrs Dikshit said that the deciosn will benefit around 1.60 lakh old-age pensioners in the national capital. However, people in the age bracket of 60 and less than 70 will continue to get 1,000 rupees as old-age pension monthly. Delhi government paying old-age pension to 3.16 lakh senior citizens in the city. To be eligible, a senior citizen's annual income should not exceed 60,000 rupees.
