The Delhi government drew flak from the National Green Tribunal, NGT for its submission yesterday on the decline of dengue cases in the national capital, due to stoppage of mosquito breeding caused by rising air pollution.<br/><br/>Castigating Delhi government for such a submission, a bench headed by NGT Chairperson Swatanter Kumar directed Chief Secretary of Delhi to file by today a status report on the action they have taken to tackle the alarming air pollution and smog level. It will hear the matter today.<br/><br/>The inter-ministerial task force to fight the pollution menace headed by state PWD Minister Satyendar Jain met yesterday and identified crop burning in Punjab and Haryana as one of the major reasons behind the spiraling level of pollutants.<br/><br/>The Delhi government is to raise the issue in a high-level meeting called by the Union Environment Ministry today. Meanwhile in the wake of excessive pollution, some schools in the national capital region have declared holiday today , while some others have suspended morning assembly and asked students to wear masks.<br/><br/>According to the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) the national capital is facing the worst smog in 17 years. It asked the Delhi government to issue health alerts and convey that children should stay indoors as there is a state of health emergency due to peaking air pollution. <br/><br/>
