Delhi Govt decides to take over 499 streets from MCD

Delhi government has decided to take over 499 streets with a width of 60 feet and more in the national capital for maintenance from the civic agency MCD. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Mrs Shiela Dikshit following the pathetic condition of municipal roads. The 499 roads with length of 863 kilometer will now be maintained by the city government and its agencies. The total length of road network in the city is more than 31,000 kilometer out of which MCD maintains around 27,000 kilometer.
