The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till noon. As the House met after the first adjournment, there was no change in the situation. The opposition members were on their feet. The Chairman adjourned the House till noon. Earlier the House was adjourned for 15 minutes. As soon as the House met for the day, the House offered condolences to the bereaved families of typhoon Bopha in the Philippines. The typhoon that devastated southern Philippines earlier this month continues to climb, with over 1,000 reported dead and many missing. Immediately
after that, BJP member Mrs Maya Singh raised the issue of gangrape of a girl inside Delhi bus and demanded that the Home minister should come to House to explain the issue. The Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari said the issue will be taken up after the Question Hour. But the entire opposition members were on their feet demanding the Home minister's presence in the House immediately. The Chairman said all are equally upset and distress what happened. The minister of state for Parliamentary affairs, Rajiv Shukla's repeated plea that the Home minister will make a statement in both the Hosues after the Question Hour did not pacify the members.
