Delhi girl's gangrape issue leads to brief RS adjournment

The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned for 15 minutes. As soon as the House met for the day, the House offered condolences to the bereaved families of typhoon Bhopa in Philippines. The typhoon that devastated southern Philippines earlier this month continues to climb, with over 1,000 reported dead and many missing. Immediately after that, BJP member Mrs Maya Singh raised the issue of gangrape of a girl inside Delhi bus and demanded that the Home minister should come to House to explain the issue. The Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari said the issue will be taken up after the Question Hour. But the entire opposition members were on their feet demanding the Home minister's presence in the House immediately. In the din, the chair adjourned the House for
15 minutes.
