Delhi gangrape case: PM appeals for peace, calls public anger as genuine

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has appealed to all concerned citizens to maintain peace and calm, expressing sadness at the turn of events leading to clashes between protesters and police forces in New Delhi yesterday.

Giving assurance of all possible efforts to ensure security and safety to all women in the country, the Prime Minister sought the help and cooperation of all sections of society in this endeavour and to maintain peace.

Sharing the concern for the young woman who was the victim of a heinous crime in the national capital, he said, there is genuine and justified anger and anguish at this ghastly incident.

Dr. Singh said, the government is constantly monitoring her medical condition and urged everyone to pray for her and her loved ones during this critical time.
