A Delhi court has convicted four persons in December 16 gangrape and murder case of 23-year-old paramedic. The Court will hear tomorrow arguments on quantum of sentence. Fast-track court judge Yogesh Khanna today convicted the four by relying on the victim's dying declaration and forensic evidence. Court held them guilty of 13 offences including gangrape, unnatural offence, murder, dacoity, conspiracy, kidnapping and destruction of evidence. The convicts could face a maximum penalty of death. The woman was raped and beaten in a moving bus on December 16 and died 13 days later.

Reacting to the conviction, Congress General Secretary Ambika Soni said the quantum of punishment should be deterrent so that such heinous crimes do not occur again.

The BJP demanded death penalty for the four convicts. Talking to reporters in New Delhi this afternoon, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said that it will set an example for the future.
