The national capital can look forward to bright and sunny weather on the weekend after experiencing heavy rains over the past few days. The Met department predicts a rise in the mercury level in the coming days with the maximum temperature expected to be around 35 degrees today. This has been one of the wettest August in the over a decade with the city receiving 455.1 mm of rainfall during the month, which is 112 percent above normal. AIR correspondent reports that river Yamuna continues to flow above the danger mark. The water level in River Yamuna is expected to cross the 206 meter mark today with 2.73 lakh cusec water released from the Hatnikund barrage on Wednesday rushing towards the capital. The river has been flowing above the danger mark of 204.83 metres since last Friday following heavy rain in the upper catchments areas. The capital has received a total of 698.6 mm of rainfall this season, 41 percent above normal. Heavy rains, massive construction activity and flood like situation in the low lying areas along the banks of the river have also led to an upsurge in number dengue cases in the city. Two people have died due to dengue so far with 674 confirmed cases of dengue reported till yesterday. According to MCD officials all possible measures are being taken to curb mosquito breeding. Delhites themselves should take all preventive measures and prevent collection of water in their surroundings to avoid a dengue outbreak in the city.
