Delhi exempts Hotel rooms, guest houses with daily rent of Rs 1000 from luxury tax

In view of the Commonwealth Games Delhi government has decided to exempt those Hotel rooms and guest houses from luxury tax which have a daily rent of 1000 rupees. Delhi Finance Minister Dr A.K Walia said that a notification on an Amendment in the Delhi Tax on Luxury Tax, 1996 has been issued to this effect. It has come into force from yesterday. The amendment in the act was approved by the Legislative Assembly in Monsoon Session. He said that the threshold limit has been enhanced from 500 rupees to 1000 rupees to lend a helping hand to visitors looking for the rooms at very reasonable rates.
