Over 80 percent of the athletes will check in at the Delhi Common Wealth Games village by tomorrow. The village has turned a hub of sports activities with world's top athletes practicing for the mega track and field event. More than 4500 athletes and delegates have already checked in and over 1150 are expected tonight.The Australian contingent is the largest to arrive today with 146 member team comprising swimmers, table tennis, athletics, tennis and badminton players. Pakistan's squad of 58 athletes will participate in hockey, squash, tennis, weightlifting, wrestling and boxing.Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar today reviewed the facilities at the Commonwealth Games Village and expressed satisfaction at the progress made in the work.Both Dikshit and Chandrasekhar directed MCD and NDMC officials to finish the cleaning up of the Village by this evening. Home Minister Chidambaram said adequate and foolproof security measures have been put in place for the Commonwealth Games. He said there is no credible threat to the games but the government is taking every bit of information seriously and putting in place necessary measures. Chidambaram has already visited three venues of the Commonwealth games and is likely to visit the games village soon to take stock of the security at the venues. The Games village has already been handed over to Delhi police. It is keeping a hawks eye on the village as no one is allowed to enter it without accreditation.AIR correspondent reports, Fighter planes Sukhois and MiG-21s will be in ready mode and guard the skies during October 3rd to 14th mega event. Army will also deploy its air defence guns and medium machine guns to make the Games security fool proof. IAF's Mi-17 helicopters would be on stand by for any casualty evacuation.
